Operation & Maintenance

WSSA has been extremely successful in the provision of technical assistance, management, operational and maintenance services to numerous municipalities.

Operation and Maintenance (O&M) management encompasses both water and wastewater systems. O&M contracts usually have duration of between three to five years, but can be extended if required. During the period of the contract, WSSA assumes responsibility for management, operation and maintenance of the infrastructure from abstraction at the raw water source through to the treatment works, bulk storage, distribution networks and collection systems.

    • Co-ordinate and monitor contractors, subcontractors and SMMEs providing repair services.

Location: Queenstown, Eastern Cape
Project Description:The project included the operation and maintenance of the raw water infrastructure; specifically, Bonkolo Dam, Waterdown Dam and McEwan’s pump station, water treatment works, water storage and distribution systems, wastewater network system and wastewater treatment works. In addition to this, water mains and meters were rehabilitated and the client advised on future expansion projects.

Location: Khayalitsha, Western Cape
Project Description: Operational and maintenance management of the Bulk Sewage Treatment Works. In addition to the treatment of the waste water, WSSA is responsible for the O&M of the main pump station and belt presses for sludge processing. WSSA is also responsible for ground & building maintenance, health & safety, operation & quality monitoring and management of the Green Drop System.

Project Description: Operational and maintenance management of two (2) water treatment works and four (4) wastewater treatment works. Additional services include management of the belt press for sludge management, purchase of consumables, operational & compliance monitoring, ground & building maintenance and security.
