Sanitation

WSSA continues to play an important role in the improvement of sanitation services, whether through the eradication of the night soil bucket system or our initiatives to improve sanitation service delivery mechanisms, including:

* Vacuum and conservancy tanker management and control
* Community-based construction of VIP toilets
* Shallow sewer systems
* Collector and main sewers, pump stations, holding dams
* Conventional waterborne sewer systems

The effective operation and maintenance of these systems, often neglected within the municipal environment, forms an essential part of the value adding services offered by WSSA, and ensure:

* rapid response to clearing sewer blockages and obstructions;
* sewer cleaning and jetting;
* CCTV sewer inspection;
* repair or replacement of damaged or deteriorated sewer networks;
* storm water ingress; and
* community awareness programmes
