Adsorption

Activated Carbon
Activated carbon is widely used in the water treatment industry as an adsorbent. It has a wide range of pore sizes and can accommodate large organic molecules such as natural organic matter (NOM) and synthetic organic compounds (SOCs) such as solvents and fuels. Activated carbon is used in surface water treatment plants for taste and odour control, as well as for the removal of organic matter and trace oil content.

Ion Exchange
Ion exchange is the process by which ions of a given charge in a solution are adsorbed onto a solid exchange material and replaced by other ions of the same charge. Ion exchange is typically used in water treatment for softening and complete demineralisation. Specialised ion exchange resins also exist for the removal of specific elements from the feed water, such as metals, organic components and nitrates.

The local Wildlife Centre have already tried several methods to try capture the animal, but have so far been unsuccessful.
