Filtration

Sand Filtration
To remove finer particles or unsettled flocs left behind after clarification, water can be passed, under gravity or pressure, through sand filters. The filter media comprises graded silica sand layers and can include activated carbon. Sand filtration is frequently used as a pre-filtration step to reverse osmosis plants.

Mechanical Filtration

Mechanical filtration is achieved through the use of drum screens rather than sand filters. These modular, mechanical, self-cleaning filters offer low operating costs and high performance, and have been specifically designed to prevent the fragmentation of particles during the filtration process.
