FIPAG (Mozambique) Maputo
| The Objective FIPAG, the Mozambican Water Authority, had appointed Aguas de Mozambique to manage, operate and maintain the water system supplying Maputo. In terms of the contract, an independent specialist was required to carry out a condition grade survey of the water assets at regular intervals. The Solution WSSA was appointed to carry out the condition grade survey of all assets within the entire Maputo system. Achievements WSSA’s team of specialists carried out a full assessment of all site works, civil, building, electrical and mechanical installations as well as pipelines, reservoirs and telemetry systems comprising the bulk water supply to Maputo, including: * The raw water extraction * The bulk water treatment plant * Pumps and pump stations, including the validation of pump curves and performance * Bulk and main pipelines, valves, air valves and control valves * Reservoirs including the establishment of flows through the reservoirs using strap-on meters * Borehole installations * Electrical, instrumentation, control and telemetry installations * Structures and buildings * Roads and storm water * Offices and residences A full asset inventory with photographs was prepared, giving the location, reference number and detailed description of each asset, the manufacturer, model and performance specification and other relevant information. Each asset was also graded in terms of its condition and priorities were set for corrective actions. The final report contained the full asset condition grade survey, plus additional technical reports on pumping systems. The report was used to improve service delivery and set priorities for future asset repair and replacement requirements. |
