Appointed by City of Cape Town to operate and maintain Zandvliet Sewage Treatment works.
Appointed by the Department of Water Affairs to implement BOTT contract in rural areas of Eastern Cape and Limpopo.
Appointed to establish and capacitate Johannesburg Water. The project was implemented with a local partner as part of WSSA’s strategy on enterprise development.
WSSA’s service offerings expanded to include refurbishment, upgrade and greenfield construction services in the water sector. Several subsidiaries established with HDI ownership to develop local capacity, including ZanaManzi in the Eastern Cape.

Expansion continues from rural municipal services into large metropolitan municipalities in almost all provinces, specifically, in management, operation and maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
Continued growth in key contracts with municipalities includes:
KwaZulu-Natal: uMkhanyahude, Zululand, uThukela, uMzinyathi, iLembe District Municipalities and the City of uMhlathuze.
Western Cape: Zandvliet and Fisantekraal for the City of Cape Town, DOW prisons.
Eastern Cape: Construction and O&M support for Chris Hani, Alfred Nzo, Amathole, Joe Gqabi and OR Tambo District Municipalities.
Free State: Construction & rehabilitation of water & wastewater systems and O&M services for district & local municipalities across the province.
Other Provinces: Extensive construction, rehabilitation & O&M services for both water and wastewater across all provinces.
PROXA joins WSSA group as an advanced industrial and mining water treatment specialist.
- Today WSSA is responsible for the asset management of over 168 water treatment systems valued in excess of R15.5 billion.
